摘要: With a seasonally polyestrus breeding structure, the unwanted domestic cat population has proven difficult to control. Various lethal methods have been used in an attempt lower this of cats. Recently, humane attempts control "pest species," such as feral cat, focused on immunocontraception. SpayVacTM is vaccine that uses antibodies raised against porcine (ZP) antigens prevent fertilization ovum. SpayVac, delivered single dose, evaluated fallow deer and several species seals with >90% reduction fertility no adverse reactions. This study effectiveness SpayVac reducing kittens. Thirty female kittens were treated containing either Freund's complete adjuvant (FCA) or alum, vehicle. Kittens monitored for side effects, estrus cycling at maturity, fecundity. Anti-porcine ZP quantified by ELISA. Immunohistochemical assays measured specificity produced IgG binding vivo. Despite high anti-porcine antibody titers, neither formulation prevented maturity reduced indicated cats recognized ZP, but not feline ZP.
