摘要: he quality of child care in the United States leaves room for improvement. Caregiverqualifications declined nationally, salaries did not improve during 1990s, and teacher turnover is high. Research shows that matters. For example, substituting a poor caregiver with an excellent one improves child’s school readiness by 50%. Over time, kids better preschool are more likely to complete high college, earn higher wages, commit fewer crimes. Higher also increases odds parents will continue their education, keep jobs, work longer hours. The authors discuss government’s role why private marketplace does as well other industries.
