Validation of English and Spanish-language versions of a screening questionnaire for rheumatoid arthritis in an underserved community.

摘要: Objective Questionnaires to screen for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been tested in groups that were primarily well educated and Caucasian. We sought validate the RA questions of Connective Tissue Disease Screening Questionnaire (CSQ) ethnic minorities an underserved community, test a Spanish-language version. Methods The version was developed by 2 native speakers. Consecutive English-speaking or Spanish-speaking patients community-based rheumatology practice completed questionnaire. Diagnoses confirmed medical record review. Sensitivity specificity questionnaire diagnosis computed each language version, using as controls: with noninflammatory conditions, participants recruited from community. Results English-language 53 (79% minorities; mean education level 11.3 yrs), 85 controls 82 community controls. Using 3 positive responses indicating screening test, sensitivity 0.77, based on 0.45, 0.94. 55 (mean 7.8 149 controls, 88 0.87, specificities 0.60 0.97 respectively.
