摘要: Breathing is a vegetative function that altered during more complex behaviours such as exercise, vocalisation and respiratory protective reflexes. Recent years have seen recognition of the importance pattern generation in addition to rhythm generation. Respiratory-modulated cranial motoneurons (laryngeal, pharyngeal, hypoglossal, facial) offer unique insight into control respiration since: (1) they receive rhythmic inputs but; (2) their respiratory-modulated firing differs phrenic neurons suit function, (for example, hypoglossal begin thus tongue depresses before onset nerve discharge diaphragmatic inspiration) and; (3) activity often parallel with changes stereotypical non-respiratory coughing, swallowing sneeze. Here we review some mechanisms modulate respiratory-related laryngeal an emphasis on post-inspiratory activity.
