摘要: Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy are currently the most common pediatric surgical procedures performed in United States. may be effective recurrent acute throat infection (acute tonsillitis), chronic tonsillitis, tonsillar hypertrophy, peritonsillar abscess. Antimicrobial therapy also beneficial. Clinical trials evaluating children with obstructive adenoids being evaluated; anecdotal evidence points to improvement development quality of life after surgery. The efficacy paranasal sinusitis has not been evaluated clinical trials; antimicrobial or possibility upper respiratory tract allergy should considered such cases. For otitis media, recommendations range from no treatment cases that will abate time, anti-microbial prophylaxis, myringotomy tympanostomy tube insertion, without tonsillectomy, a combination and/or tubes. decision for against otic pharyngeal surgery individualized on basis severity, duration, frequency illness; previous treatment; risk.
