摘要: Summary Purpose To describe and evaluate a novel MRI post-processing technique for automated quantitative hippocampal FLAIR analysis in patients with sclerosis (HS). Patients methods Based on method presented by Focke et al. (2009) , T1 coregistered scans of individual subjects were processed together SPM5 to conduct both spatial an intensity normalization the scans. In further development described here, resulting normalized images thresholded weighted probabilistic mask determine average intensities left right hippocampus. The was applied data 103 HS 131 controls. Using 95% confidence region calculated from controls as threshold, performance discriminating groups assessed. Results One hundred among those all 23 histologically confirmed fell outside region, amounting 97.1% sensitivity. All but 6 (=95.4%) found within corresponding expected specificity. could also distinguish bilateral visualize signal changes after status epilepticus. Conclusion Automated is promising tool quantify alterations, support detection HS, monitor temporal evolution disease.
