The Prevalence and Perceived Contributing Factors for Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders among Nurses at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia

摘要: Introduction: Nurses routinely perform activities which are repetitive, labour intensive and involve direct contact with patients. Such have been shown to be risk factors for the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. The prevalence these conditions amongst nurses in Zambia is not well established. objectives this study were determine disorders within last year among at University Teaching Hospital, Lusaka, Zambia, establish demographic characteristics perceived job tasks associated outcome. Methods: Data collected using a structured questionnaire cross sectional survey. Stata version 12.0 was used analyze data. Associations between presence tested multivariate logistic regression model reported odds ratios 95% confidence intervals. Results: 12-months period 68.9% 267 who took part (95% interval 63.1-74.2). ankles feet most commonly affected body 54.8% (n=101) followed by low back 53.3% (n=98). Most respondents (44.7% n=93) had their first experience five years graduation. Decreased height, increased weight professional experience, full time position, working same position long adjusting bed height identified as Conclusion: Work-related common Hospital. We recommend that education on prevention coping strategies introduced encouraged promote work efficiency well-being.
