摘要: Study Objectives: It is well established that medical conditions such as obesity and cardiovascular disease are associated with increased levels of inflammatory biomarkers C-reactive protein (CRP). Prior studies have produced inconsistent results regarding the association between sleep disordered breathing (SDB) CRP, possibly due to confounding effects or comorbidity. The present study examined degree SDB level CRP independent prevalent obesity. Design: Cross-sectional study. Subjects Setting: University-based clinical sample referred for diagnostic polysomnography. Measurements Results: consisted 69 men (mean age 40 years; mean BMI 31.2 kg/m 2 ) free including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, disease. morning evening were performed along full-montage Confounding was assessed by adjustments body mass index, waist circumference, percent fat. A strong found serum without adjustment several measures adiposity. Between lowest highest quartiles apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) difference in adjusted 3.88 μg/ml (P < 0.001). Moreover, an nocturnal hypoxia also observed, whereas no noted parameters architecture. Conclusions: While more research needed elucidate causal pathways involving sleep-related on low-grade systemic inflammation, this suggest mechanisms other than adiposity per se could contribute state seen adults SDB.
