摘要: Self-report is often used in large-scale studies. Therefore, it important to determine the accuracy of self-report. In Blue Mountains Eye Study, a population-based study 3,654 older, community-dwelling Australians, subjects were asked about fracture history at 5-year follow-up interview. All reported non-rib and vertebral fractures radiologically confirmed. Hospital radiology records searched for people who no period. Of 2,326 came interview, 272 318 sustained since 1990. Overall, 34.6% reports could not be confirmed, mainly due record treatment. Among self-reported fractures, false positive rates 10.7% all 4.8% hip, 2.2% wrist, 19.4% ankle, 6.6% shoulder fractures. Sensitivity specificity was high, with lowest sensitivity (82.4%). major osteoporotic reasonably accurate but may improved by obtaining more details
