摘要: The association of celiac disease with fracture is controversial. Recent studies may have underestimated the impact by studying patients low risk. Since postmenopausal women are at greatest risk fracture, we investigated non-spine occurrence in ≥50 years disease. Patients were recruited from hospital and general practice as well volunteers, controls practice. All completed a questionnaire detailing occurrence. Three hundred eighty-three female 445 aged time study compared. Mean age was 61.4±7.8 years 62.7±9.9 years controls. Celiac lighter but not shorter. displayed greater “all fracture” prevalence (odds ratio [OR], 1.51; confidence interval [CI], 1.13:2.02) after 50 years (OR, 2.20; CI, 1.49:3.25). Wrist more frequent 1.65; 1.12:2.41), significance lost once height weight taken into account. had multiple fractures 2.96; 1.81:4.83). To investigate diagnosis, 324 paired control age. No excess found than 10 years before diagnosis amongst diagnosed 50 years, increased period to 5 years remained high ( p overall related largely peri-diagnostic period. partly accounted for weight, common diagnosis. testing be indicated thin over fractures, adequate calcium vitamin D intake should ensured.
