摘要: Article abstract-Objective: To evaluate 1) the ability of magnetization transfer ratio (MTR) histogram analysis to detect extent changes occurring outside MS lesions seen on conventional scans, 2) whether such vary in different clinical phenotypes, 3) are associated with and severity macroscopic lesion load, 4) contribution brain atrophy. Methods: Dual-echo, T1-weighted, MT scans were obtained from 77 patients varying courses 20 age- sex-matched control subjects. create histograms normal-appearing cerebral tissue, segmented dual-echo superimposed automatically, nulled out coregistered scalp-stripped MTR maps. Average MTR, peak height, position considered. T2 T1 loads, average volume also measured. Results: (p < 0.0001) relapsing-remitting (RMMS) lower than those Patients primary progressive (PPMS) had = 0.002) height 0.01) secondary (SPMS) a 0.05) RRMS. correlated highly MTR. load 0.001) volume. Conclusions: The amount microscopic account for an important fraction MS. They may contribute development atrophy tend be more evident
