摘要: We analysed the fishermen’s perceptions on South American sea lions (Otaria flavescens) and its interactions with local fishery close to Wildlife Refuge of Ilha dos Lobos, a marine protected area in southern Brazil. Sea prey upon same resources targeted by fishermen. They repeatedly hunt nets consequently damage them. In response, fishermen persecute lions. However, conflicts high-profile animals, perceived often exceeds actual evidence. Results from 100 interviews revealed that perception their attitudes were affected age, hierarchical position crew, if fishing was only source income, level formal education. Greater more negative attitude found among older, less educated sailor who had no other income besides fishing.
