Improved intra-species collision models for PIC simulations

摘要: In recent years, the authors have investigated methods to improve effectiveness of modeling collisional processes in particle-in-cell codes. Through use generalized collision models, plasma dynamics can be followed both regime nearly collisionless plasmas as well hydrodynamic limit plasmas. They developed a collision-field method treat case collisions between unlike species (inter-species collisions), through deterministic, grid-based force, and particles same (intra-species Langevin equation. While approach used for inter-species is noise-free that experienced by particle does not require any random numbers, such numbers are intra-species collisions. This gives rise stochastic cooling effect inherent approach. this paper, concentrate on describe how accuracy model improved appropriate corrections velocity spatial moments.
