摘要: The bandwidth limitations of multimedia systems force trade-offs between presentation-data fidelity and real-time performance. For example, digital video is commonly encoded with lossy compression to reduce bandwidth, frames may be skipped during playback maintain synchronization. These depend on device performance physical data representations that are hidden by a database system. If support other continuous media types, we argue the should provide quality-of-service (QOS) interface allow application control presentation timing information-loss trade-offs. This paper proposes model for preserves independence. We show how define formal QOS constraints from specification ideal outputs. Our definition enables meaningful requests endto-end service guarantees, while leaving system free optimize resource management. propose one set parameters constitute complete error, this error extends opportunities optimization.
