摘要: OBJECTIVES We evaluated the alleviation of post-tonsillectomy pain with systemic and topical applications. PATIENTS AND METHODS Data obtained from 78 patients (28 females, 50 males) who had undergone tonsillectomy for recurrent tonsillitis by conventional cold surgery were reviewed prospective, randomized clinical study. Initially, assigned into drug groups. These groups then divided three sub-groups; (i) clindamycin, dexamethasone, control (saline) (ii) group; (iii) cefprozil, amoxicillin+clavulanate (no medications except analgesic) group. The intensity perceived at 21 different times was assessed visual analog scale facial scale. RESULTS No significant relation found between or antibiotic use after tonsillectomy. CONCLUSION Neither application nor administration is significantly superior to other postoperative management pain.
