摘要: The attenuation coefficient of ice in a temperate valley glacier was measured by spectral analysis the pressure pulse, directly transmitted through from small explosion. Values varied 0.014±.002/m at 2.5 kc/s to 0.215±.002/m 15 kc/s. function follows form α = A + Bƒ^4 closely, suggesting Rayleigh-type scattering as dominant source high-frequency acoustic waves glacial ice. Scattering crystal boundaries is compatible with observed coefficient.
