Liver enzyme aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (AP) were taken as criteria for involvement: 41 (93%) elevated AP, 22 (50%) showed ALT, 24 (54.5%) AST. Results 25 received treatment; 12 (48%) improvement in enzymes 13 (52%) remained unchanged. Ten (7%) patients, who did receive any treatment, also improved. During same period University Hospital 18 (25%) 72 Twelve 6 enzymes. One 3 5 (41%) developed complications due steroids. Conclusion common African American sarcoidosis. Social economic status do seem influence In men age distribution has an early peak. outcome treatment remains similar, far concerned, suggesting that most undergo natural remission. Unless patient progressive dysfunction, it advisable monitor periodically obtain biopsies only if clinically indicated. need reasonable try options other than steroids view severe corticosteroid related complications.
