摘要: Study objectives To identify age-associated changes in circadian and homeostatic characteristics of sleep healthy elderly young adults using electroencephalogram (EEG) power spectral analysis during a 90-minute sleep-wake schedule. Design Controlled clinical experiment. Setting University laboratory. Participants 16 older (77 +/- 5 years) 19 younger (23 3 years). Interventions Subjects followed schedule (30 minutes bed, 60 awake) for hours. Sleep was recorded each bed-rest episode, core body temperature continuously recorded. The EEG density determined non-rapid eye movement episode. Power data were analyzed with mixed-effects models to assess rhythmic linear components. Results Younger subjects had greater delta, theta, sigma bands across the study interval. Significant rhythms observed sigma, beta bands. Age-related differences modulation activity, indicated by significant interaction terms, present alpha A component delta theta bands, no age-interaction effect. Conclusions Despite overall level power, exhibited similar patterns most frequency Age appears affect rhythmicity higher frequencies drive lower frequencies.
