摘要: Some dogs develop a form of diabetes mellitus (DM) similar to that seen in children (juvenile, or Type 1 DM). It is characterized by concurrent high blood glucose (BG) and urine concentrations. Elevated breath acetone concentrations have been observed DM humans, though quantitative correlation between BG has yet be determined. The study diabetic might allow the use as biomarker for both humans animals. We report on analysis 51 (37 nondiabetic 14 dogs). Breath samples were collected simultaneous levels (if applicable) measured. tests conducted using real-time analyzer based cavity ringdown spectroscopy technique. Absolute (upper limits) determined without need sample preconcentration measurement calibration. For 37 dogs, their exhaled ranged from 0.16 2.42 parts per million (ppm). 0.17 5.80 ppm with range 30-750 mg/dL. mean concentration 1.25 ppm, which higher than i.e., 0.60 ppm. close healthy humans. Although exhibit elevated concentration, human DM, no was found level this paper.
