OBJECTIVES The aim this study was to assess A-weighted ambient noise levels in urban residential streets Eastern Alexandria, Egypt, from September 2010 January 2011, the objective recommending corrective actions minimize high levels. MATERIALS AND METHODS A descriptive cross-sectional carried out, which were measured on basis 24-h periods, using Ono sokki la-5120--precision integrating sound level meter, 2011. measurements taken three streets, selected stratified random sampling. Seven measurement sites, along under study, by site visits according predetermined criteria. RESULTS (LAeq) highest [70.7 (24.2) dB] high-traffic-density high-human-activity followed moderate low traffic density human activity [67.5 (31.3) 62.8 (38.2) dB], respectively.
