摘要: Therapeutic intervention for children with cerebral palsy begins accurate appraisal of abilities and disabilities. Currently, treatment focuses on the identified motor deficits, any underlying sensory deficits often being overlooked. Sensory input is an essential component function control. Therefore, objective this study was to determine presence extent in school-aged hemiplegic using a formal clinical battery, as well somatosensory evoked potentials. A cross-sectional comparative performed comparing healthy controls. Nine 41 controls between 4 19 years age were assessed. Hemiplegic included if they had minimum level receptive language 30 33 months expressive ability 24 27 months, no severe limitation joint range hand. Significant bilateral (88.8%) ascertained (P < .05), when compared performance Stereognosis proprioception chief modalities affected bilaterally. The loss did not mirror severity deficit. Conversely, findings potentials closely related function. Thus, evaluation should be integral part assessment palsy. likelihood impairment one or more nonhemiplegic side underappreciated needs by rehabilitation specialists maximize functional potential these children.
