摘要: Abstract In a previous study from our laboratory, the prognostic significance of auditory brainstem evoked response was assessed in high-risk neonates. An abnormal predicted neurologic deficits at age 1 year; however, normal result did not predict outcome. order to evaluate utility examining other sensory pathways, somatosensory responses were elicited following median nerve stimulation. Testing performed 37–44 weeks conceptional (defined as gestational plus chronologic age) and 2 6 months ages. Those patients studied included 34 neonates 18 healthy, term infants controls. Ten had responses. Abnormalities increased absolute (N19, P22) interwave (N13–N19, N19–P22) latencies flat potentials, alone or combination. Three children with potentials demonstrated persistence this abnormality on subsequent examination they later presented clinically spastic quadriparesis. Four manifested examination. Recently, these 4 exhibited tone abnormalities mild developmental deficits; outcome, will be blind year part ongoing prospective study. Preliminary results suggest that may valuable an electrophysiologic predictor
