摘要: The most common type of healthcare-associated infection (HAI) is a urinary tract (UTI), and 80 percent these are associated with the use indwelling catheters (IUCs). These termed catheter-associated infections (CAUTIs). It has been estimated that about 25 all hospitalized patients have an IUC placed during their hospital stay. In addition to morbidity mortality may be linked development CAUTI, there also financial consequences. This particularly true since as October 1, 2008, Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services stopped reimbursing hospitals several types acquired stay, including CAUTIs. United States (U.S.) nursing homes, more than 1 million CAUTIs per year occur, annual cost treating $390 $450 (in 2007 dollars). proposed large percentage should preventable. article will discuss diagnosis, treatment, prevention
