摘要: The management of common infections in family medicine may be complicated by poor treatment response or infection recurrence. In many cases, difficulty treating these can explained the important role biofilms, complex microbial communities with unique survival properties that promote resistance, recurrence, and persistence. Biofilms have been demonstrated to play roles involving sinuses, ears, ischemic wounds. also commonly grow on medical devices, such as indwelling catheters, where they serve an nidus persistent infection. Understanding biofilms suggests preventive strategies will directly target resistive mechanisms biofilms.
