摘要: The particle size distributions of a latex and four different inorganic colloidal systems, consisting spherical particles suspended in aqueous solutions, have been evaluated by three techniques: electron microscopy (EM, scanning and/or transmission), classical light scattering (CLS, polarization ratio method), photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS, commercial instrument). Both techniques appear to be exceedingly sensitive even relatively small level aggregation. Thus, the effect treating dispersions ultrasonic energy was tested order establish best experimental conditions. While shorter sonication results minimum or constant value for average diameter (or polydispersity suspension), longer times may promote reaggregation particles. Good found as long conversion number averages PCS data involved proper corrections polydispersity. agreement with EM depended on chemical nature dispersed particles; i.e., drying exposure beam greatly affected histograms some cases.
