Development of a questionnaire to assess the impact on parents of their infant’s bronchiolitis hospitalization

摘要: Bronchiolitis is a distressing respiratory condition and the most common cause of hospitalization during first year life. The an infant stressful event for parents deserves careful consideration. objective this work was to develop validate self-administered instrument that comprehensively assesses impact on their bronchiolitis. Impact Hospitalization Questionnaire (IBHQ©) developed using literature review pre-study interviews with both clinicians. For finalization psychometric validation, it included in multicenter, longitudinal, observational study conducted France. Parents infants under age 1 year hospitalized bronchiolitis were asked complete questionnaire at hospital discharge, 3 months after. Seven hundred seven questionnaires completed by 463 eligible infants. After finalization, based principal component analyses, IBHQ 30 core items allowing calculation 7 dimension scores (Worries distress; Fear future; Guilt; daily organization; Physical impact; behavior infant; Financial impact), as well 16 optional items, 5 (Disturbed breastfeeding; reaction feeding; other infants; Siblings’ reaction). Internal consistency reliability construct validity satisfactory. highest observed “Worries distress”, “Fear future” “Impact organization” scores. reliable valid assessing multifaceted
