摘要: ω-Hydroxyacids are fatty acids bearing a hydroxyl group on the terminal carbon. They found in mammals and higher plants often involved providing permeability barrier, primary purpose of which is to reduce water loss. Some ω-hydroxyacid derivatives may be waterproofing signalling. The this review was survey known natural sources ω-hydroxyacids. produced by two different P450-dependent mechanisms. longer (30-34 carbons) ω-hydroxyacids chain extension from palmitic acid until extends across membrane taking place, then carbon hydroxylated. Shorter can hydroxylated directly produce C16 C18 20-eicosatetraenoic (20-HETE) P450. components polymers plants. long-chain epidermal sphingolipids, giant-ring lactones sebum members equidae, as component meibum carnauba wax wool wax.
