摘要: Background: Recruitment efforts for child health research are often based on assumptions, therefore improving knowledge about parents9 perceptions and preferences could enhance engagement. Aim/Objective: 1) To describe participation in within a pediatric practice-based network (PBRN), 2) to investigate any associations with the presence of on-site PBRN staff, office location, age. Methods: We conducted 2-phase study convenience sample parents from diverse settings. Phase 1 was qualitative assessment using semistructured, in-person interviews. 2 consisted quantitative self-administered survey assessing: importance, benefits/motivations, risks/barriers research, recruitment method enrollment location. Results: Parents (n = 627) uniformly perceived be important prevention (89%), diagnosis treatment (92%). They were motivated participate most commonly by altruism rarely compensation. side effects (60%), discomfort (52%), time (45%) as main risks participation. Most preferred learn opportunities at their (70%), if interested, enroll (57%) or home (52%). significantly more altruistic interested offices staff greater proximity University. Conclusions: Child researchers resources strategies that match parent preferences, including engagement staff.
