Dissociative Excitation of Some Oxygen-Containing Molecules: Lifetimes and Electron-Impact Cross Sections

摘要: Decay lifetimes of seven vacuum-ultraviolet O I and II emission multiplets have been measured using a pulsed electron beam in low-pressure samples ${\mathrm{O}}_{2}$, CO, NO, ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O. The cascade patterns the lines are consistent with known autoionization processes. In two cases, spin-orbit-induced rates determined. Absolute excitation functions for 8447---\AA{} above gases. Relative 1304-\AA{} normalized to 8447-\AA{} absolute cross section by means time-domain analysis. A method computing relative sections from $N$-exponential decays is outlined.
