摘要: Many forms of heart disease are associated with a decrease in the number functional cardiomyocytes. These include congenital defects (e.g. hypoplastic and noncompaction syndromes) as well acquired injuries exposure to cardiotoxic agents or resulting from coronary artery disease, hypertension, surgical interventions). Although adult mammalian retains some capacity for cardiomyocyte renewal (resulting proliferation and/or cardiomyogenic stem cell activity), magnitude this regenerative process is insufficient effect repair substantively damaged hearts. It has become clear that exogenous cardiomyocytes transplanted into hearts able structurally functionally integrate. also embryonic cells (ESCs), induced progenitors ESC-like characteristics, generate bona fide vitro vivo. thus constitute potential source donor therapeutic interventions This chapter reviews spontaneous differentiation ESCs, methods used enriched populations ESC-derived cardiomyocytes, current results obtained after engraftment precursors.
