摘要: To determine the role of cortisol in modulating effects energetics on muscle mass a subsistence society, measures and body composition were obtained from sample Turkana men. Subjects 63 settled 69 nomadic men, ages 24 older. Urinary was determined along with mass. Cortisol/creatinine ratio higher among men (57.8 +/- 56.8 vs. 34.5 44.6; P < 0.001). Controlled for age, urinary inversely related to arm plus bone area (MPBA) (beta = -0.28; 0.04), but not -0.04; 0.78) sample. any other composition. These results suggest that even chronically undernourished populations, may be elevated primarily under conditions acute nutritional stress. However, catabolic our confounded by energetic factors, including energy availability.
