摘要: Abstract Striking geographic variation in death rates for coronary heart disease has been observed to occur within the United States. Coronary states are strongly correlated with per capita cigarette sales, estimated from state tax revenues. The correlation noted was as high +0.76 if only most accurate consumption information were used. This could not be attributed either urbanization or softness of local water supply. It is suggested that accompanying search new hypotheses explain mortality should an attempt determine whether any established risk factors responsible.
