摘要: This study examines the relationship between cardiovascular risk factors and regional variation in IHD incidence among white males 55-74 years of age from NHANES I Epidemiologic Followup Study. The age-adjusted rate was lowest west (31.3 per 1000 persons followup). rates northeast, midwest, south were similar so they combined into one region, non-west, with a 42.4. Differences (smoking, educational level, hypertension, serum cholesterol, diabetes mellitus, body mass index) did not explain differences incidence. After adjusting for baseline using proportional hazards model, still 38% higher non-west compared to west. However, effect diabetes, index on varied by region.
