ANTIULCER EFFECT OF SHANKHA BHASMA IN RATS: A PRELIMINARY STUDY

摘要: Objective: To investigate the anti-peptic ulcer effect of Shankha bhasma (conch shell ash) in rats. Methods: Gastric ulcers were induced rats by indomethacin and cold restraint stress, two different doses was studied. The response on index, lipid peroxidation (thiobarbituric acid reacting substances TBARS) gastric tissue serum calcium determined. Results: caused significant reduction index (P<0.001) both models. TBARS stomach treated rat also reduced but level not altered. Conclusion: dose dependent protection against experimental ulcers.
