Egg flotation was used to estimate incubation age and eggshell evidence collected determine nest fate at nests of 11 species shorebirds on the Arctic Coastal Plain Alaska during 2002–2004. We present egg-flotation schedules for nine facilitate estimation age. evaluated predictive ability an schedule Semipalmated Sandpipers (Calidris pusilla) were able within ∼1–3 d assumed Patterns similar across species, with fragments (1–5 mm) most successful (96%) tops or bottoms only nests. determined independently then discriminant function analysis predict probability correctly classifying a nest's using different types evidence.
