Muscle glycogen in patients with diabetes mellitus. Glycogen content before treatment and the effect of insulin.

摘要: . The glycogen concentration of m. quadriceps femoris has been determined in 54 cases newly detected, untreated diabetes between the ages 2 and 73 years. Muscle samples were taken by needle biopsy technique. muscle values diabetics compared to 26 hospitalized non-diabetic patients within same a normal material 228 healthy volunteers. According clinical findings patient was divided into three groups: juvenile diabetics, insulin-dependent adults independent insulin. following results found: 1 Compared control significantly decreased found all types examined. 2 The mean diabetic groups different. 3 Apparently there is relation severity disease cases, lowest being less maturity-onset diabetes. 4 During insulin treatment rapid increase observed, especially during first days. 5 The indicate that peripheral lack efficacy most important cause low diabetes, details, however, still obscure.
