摘要: Abstract: The development of artificial ocular implants aims at providing rapid, effective, low-cost diagnostic, and therapeutic techniques to patients who are suffering from incurable eye diseases. This chapter provides researchers an insightful overview the state-of-the-art engineering developments/applications sensor/actuator-based microsystems in implants, also empowers newcomers with overall picture field. Specifically, we review latest glaucoma diagnostic systems that involve implantable microelectromechanical (MEMS) sensors microfluidics-based drainage devices for tracking intraocular pressure (IOP) history maintaining IOP normal levels. Furthermore, discuss systematic concepts recent two major approaches toward retinal prostheses (subretinal epiretinal prostheses), which use electrical signals directly stimulate intact neurons treating age-related macular degeneration (AMD) retinitis pigmentosa (RP) A variety MEMS device implementations such applications summarized their important performances capabilities highlighted. Finally, outline challenges these MEMS-based based on critical aspects, including material compatibility, system packaging.
