摘要: Association and linkage studies have shown that at least one of the genetic factors involved in susceptibility to insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is contained within a 4.1-kb region insulin gene. Sequence analysis has led identification 10 DNA variants this are associated with increased risk for IDDM. These strong disequilibrium each other, previous failed distinguish between variant(s) cause IDDM others disease because disequilibrium. To address problem, we undertaken large population study French diabetics controls analyzed genotype patterns several variant sites simultaneously. This subset consisting four (-2733AC, -23HphI, -365VNTR, +1140AC), which appears be directly implicated susceptibility. The multiple-DNA-variant association-analysis approach applied here problem identifying potential likely important many other multifactorial diseases.
