摘要: Oral sub-mucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a well known potentially malignant condition resulting commonly due to the use of areca nut. Areca nut chewing primordial tradition in Asian countries. It also psychoactive essence. With emergence commercial pan masala and gutkha, witness massive growth sales these products, with huge worldwide export market developed. Various components this quid have its own mechanism action OSMF. Other causes proposed were chillies, misi, nutritional deficiency, genetic predisposition, immunologic aspects, infection saliva. This review attempts give an overview about postulated etiologies role causation
