摘要: Establishing the function of trehalose in yeast cells has led us, over years, through a long path—from simple energy storage carbohydrate, then stabilizer and protector membranes proteins, safety valve against damage caused by oxygen radicals, up to regulator glycolytic path. In addition, biosynthesis been proposed as target for novel drugs several pathogens. Since this pathway is entirely absent mammalian makes use highly specific enzymes, metabolism might be an interesting development therapies. review, we want address some recent points investigated about Saccharomyces cerevisiae, focusing mainly on mechanism which disaccharide protects stress enzymes involved its synthesis breakdown. We believe that these concepts are great importance medical biotechnological applications.
