摘要: The prediction of suicide remains a major challenge for health professionals. Sociodemographic predictors the risk lack specificity: factors such as living alone, being unemployed, or having physical mental illness are common, separately in combination, but is rare. Psychiatric conditions, depression, alcohol dependence, schizophrenia and personality disorders, strongly associated with suicide, most psychiatrically ill patients do not suicide. Most suicidal consult helping agency within month their act and, practice, successful assessment intervention to prevent it depend on gaining an understanding individual patient developing therapeutic relationship. More research into biological, psychological social that distinguish from non-suicidal individuals needed. We review key studies have addressed issue prediction, outline clinician's role evaluating individual, suggest directions future research.
