摘要: Abstract Objective To develop a brief and reliable psychometric scale to identify individuals at risk for suicidal behaviour. Method design Case–control study. Sample setting: 182 (61 suicide attempters, 57 psychiatric controls, 64 psychiatrically healthy controls) aged 18 or older, admitted the Emergency Department Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. Measures: All participants completed form including their socio-demographic clinical characteristics, Personality Life Events (27 items). assess Axis I diagnoses, all patients (including attempters) were administered Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Statistical analysis: Descriptive statistics computed factors. Additionally, χ 2 independence tests applied evaluate differences variables, between groups. A stepwise linear regression with backward variable selection was conducted build Short Event (S-PLE) scale. In order accuracy, ROC analysis conducted. The internal reliability assessed using Cronbach's α , external evaluated test–retest procedure. Results S-PLE scale, composed of just 6 items, showed good performance discriminating medical controls attempters an independent sample. For instance, discriminated past non-suicide sensitivity 80% specificity 75%. area under curve 88%. factor extracted only one factor, revealing single dimension Furthermore, provides values poor (test–retest: 0.55) acceptable (Cronbach's : 0.65) ranges. Administration time is about minute. Conclusions useful accurate instrument estimating behaviour settings where scarce.
