摘要: In Darjeeling district, West Bengal, India, Tylototriton verrucosus was found in 10 localities. It lives rice fields, tea gardens, meadows underlying the shores of pools, at edge woods. Reproduction March – May (sometimes up to September). Female parental care and tendency terrestrial breeding were observed. Metamorphosis is commonly August October, but sometimes larvae overwinter. This might be result a prolonged reproductive period. The age animals determined by counting annual layers phalange transverse sections. sexual maturation supposed 3 5 (mostly 4) years. Maximum estimated 11 years old. duration hibernation 4 months. prey mainly upon small crustaceans aquatic insects, adults on earthworms, amphibian ova larvae. Data natural enemies parasites are presented. Conservation problems discussed.
