摘要: The controlled power outer coil set of the first 100 T non-destructive (100 ND) magnet is described. This will be installed as part user facility research equipment at National High Magnetic Field laboratory (NHMFL) Pulsed Facility Los Alamos Laboratory. ND consists seven nested, mechanically independent externally reinforced coils. These coils, in combination, produce a 47 platform field 225-mm diameter bore. Using inertial energy storage synchronous motor/generator provides AC to AC-DC converters rated 64 MW/80 MVA each. energize three circuits create 170 MJ T. Each multi-layer winding high strength conductor supported by an external stainless steel shell. Coils with highest magnetic loads utilize reinforcing shell fabricated from highly cold worked 301 strip. autofrettage conditioning method used pre-stress coils and thereby limit reinforcement strains elastic range. purpose pre-stressing attain design life 10,000 full pulses. operation described along special features its design, structural analyses construction.
