摘要: Mitigating conflict between humans and large carnivores is one of the most pressing intractable concerns in conservation. Yet, there has been surprisingly little effort devoted to incorporating risk assessments carnivore conservation landuse planning. Because human-carnivore can have far-reaching societal environmental impacts, attention ‘conflict–conservation nexus’ should become integrated into national global policy-making. However, how ‘the defined, elucidated, ultimately utilized forecast mitigate remains under-explored. Here, we discuss limitations current knowledge methodologies available human–carnivore suggest a novel heuristic framework that integrates ecological sociological data better predict conflict, optimize We illustrate utility our approach using case study connectivity planning southwestern United States. Our holds promise as an effective tool for use by allowing decision-makers prioritize efforts integrating biological suitability, threat acceptance.
