摘要: This chapter describes the state-of-art of synchrotron radiation therapies in treatment radioresistant tumors. The tolerance surrounding healthy tissue severely limits achievement a curative for some brain tumors, like gliomas. restriction is especially important children, due to high risk complications development central nervous system. In addition, tumors close an organ at risk, spinal cord, also restrained. One possible solution new radiotherapy techniques would exploit radically different irradiation modes, as it case radiotherapies. Their distinct features allow modify biological equivalent doses. this three approaches under European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), Grenoble (France), will be described, namely: stereotactic therapy, microbeam therapy and minibeam therapy. promising results obtained grade preclinical studies have paved way forthcoming clinical trials, currently preparation.
