摘要: Four-ball wear studies show that the antiwear (low load) performance of zinc dialkyldithiophosphates (ZDPs) can be duplicated by combining a dialkyl acid phosphate and soluble compound. Antiwear phosphates was independent chain length for C8 to C18 but affected branching ring substitution. Zinc compound effectiveness depended on strength parent compared phosphate, its concentration in blend (an atomic ratio 2P:1Zn being optimum). most desirable metal naphthenate tested. Base oil viscosity had little effect additive effectiveness. Added possible inorganic ZDP reaction products exhibited no activity. At higher loads EP regime, ZDPs lose their effectiveness, whereas both sulfur compounds reduce wear.
