摘要: Exposure to low doses of heavy particles and protons, which will be encountered during long-term exploratory class missions other planets, can cause deficits in cognitive performance. These are similar those observed aged animals. The effects such exposures their relationship the short-term aging remain established. Two-month old rats were exposed a variety protons. Recognition memory was tested at two time points following irradiation. results showed that exposure radiation did not disrupt performance younger animals, disrupted when subjects re-tested an older age. indicate there is interaction between age organism space on performance, or protons may produce initial effect as ages. Because types age, it possible participating have consequences for quality life after conclusion mission.
