摘要: We use integrated colors and B V absolute magnitudes of Type Ia supernova (SN) host galaxies in order to search for environmental effects on the SN optical properties. With new sample 44 SNe we confirm conclusion by Hamuy et al. that bright events occur preferentially young stellar environments. find also brightest least luminous galaxies, a possible indication metal-poor neighborhoods produce more events. The interpretation these results is made difficult, however, because fact with younger populations are lower luminosity. In an attempt remove this ambiguity, models line strengths absorption spectrum five early-type estimate metallicities ages galaxies. addition abundance estimates from nebular analysis emission spectra three spiral further evidence produced neighborhoods. Further spectroscopic observations will be necessary test assist disentangling age metallicity SNe.
