PATHOGENESIS OF EOSINOPHILIC PNEUMONITIS (LÖFFLER'S SYNDROME)

摘要: † Eosinophil counts up to a maximum of 80 per 100 white blood cells were obtained in seven patients hospitalized for pneumonitis with findings characteristic Loffler's syndrome, namely, patchy, migratory infiltration seen serial roentgenograms. Each patient had received from two six graded injections 3-pentadecylcatechol sesame oil prophylaxis against poison ivy dermatitis. The symptoms cough, dyspnea, malaise, and fever set 8 48 hours after the last injection. Sharp chest pains, production sputum, occasional rales, sometimes an inflamed pharynx among findings. only consistent features eosinophilia pneumonitis. latter cleared completely 4 15 days. phenomena lungs may be explained by assuming existence mechanism there trapping eosinophils. varying degrees allergic parasitic diseases would account mild, abortive forms as well pulmonary infiltrations massive dense enough revealed roentgen ray.
